DEWSTOW GARDENS and PUB LUNCH

On 23 July 15 Chepstow & District Rotarians and friends gathered for a delightful rotary walk at Dewstow Gardens and Grotto. The event began with an insightful talk that provided historical and botanical insights into the unique site, known for its intricate subterranean passages and lush greenery. The walk offered a perfect opportunity to appreciate the beauty and tranquility of the gardens.

Following the walk, the group continued their day of Rotary fellowship at the Rose Inn at Redwick, where they enjoyed a splendid lunch. The meal provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen bonds and share experiences. The event was a great success, leaving everyone with fond memories of the day and the fellowship shared.

PIMMS and PUDDINGS

On the evening of 13 August, 25 members of our Rotary Club gathered for a delightful "Pimms and Pudding" event. The evening was dedicated to fostering fellowship among members, providing an opportunity to unwind and enjoy good company. Despite the light rain that dampened the evening, the spirits of the attendees remained high.

Members enjoyed a variety of puddings, with each dish bringing its unique flavor to the evening. A glass of beer or Pimms was the beverage of choice for many, adding to the relaxed and convivial atmosphere.

Although the rain limited outdoor activities, the event was a success, with members engaging in lively conversation and laughter, reinforcing the bonds within our Rotary community.

The Pimms and Pudding evening was a warm and enjoyable gathering, demonstrating the resilience of our fellowship even when the weather doesn't cooperate. We look forward to more such events that bring our Rotary family together.

A special thanks to Rotarian Paul Durant who provided the Pimms and Beryl, who provided such scrumptious puddings.

FELLOWSHIP ON A WARM SUMMERS EVENING

On a warm and sunny evening, 26 Rotarians and friends from the Chepstow and District Rotary Club gathered at the historic 17th-century pub, The Rising Sun in Woolaston. The evening began with 12 members including several Rotarian ladies enjoying a scenic walk through the country lanes before joining the remaining 14, for a delicious supper of steak pie and chips.

The gathering was enhanced by the presence of special guests, including Maarten Vrakking  from the Rotary Club of leeuwarden-Friesland in the Netherlands, and Stan Bell and Val Bell, Stan was president of our club in 1990.

A special welcome was extended to Alan Luke, our new Rotarian member, who joined us for the evening. The event was a true celebration of fellowship, marked by lively conversations and the strong camaraderie that defines our Rotary community.

Thanks to Rtn Richard Wickham for organising the walk and meal.

CHEPSTOW & DISTRICT ROTARY CLUB VISITS “GREENFIELDS “GARDENS.

On an overcast and damp afternoon, members of the Chepstow & District Rotary Club had the pleasure of visiting the renowned "Greenfields" Garden in Brockweir. The garden, a stunning example of horticultural artistry, is home to many mature trees and a diverse collection of unusual plants and shrubs. These have been carefully planted to form a series of discrete garden areas, each with its unique character and charm.

The visit was made even more enjoyable by the warm fellowship shared among the Rotarians. They were particularly impressed by the passion and expertise of head gardener Jackie Healy, who has a keen interest in the propagation of plants. Jackie’s approach to gardening is not just about cultivating plants, but about creating a sculptural living creation, where every plant is thoughtfully placed to contribute to the overall design.

The visit to "Greenfields" was an extremely pleasant experience, leaving the Rotarians with a deep appreciation for the beauty and creativity that can be achieved through gardening.
