Welcomes New President Chris Wilson
& Honors Members for Outstanding Service
Chepstow & District Rotary Club is pleased to announce the official handover of the club's presidency.
The ceremony took place on June 26, 2024, at Abbey Mill in the historic Tintern.
Outgoing President Rtn. David Burr ceremoniously handed over the leadership to the incoming President Chris Wilson.
In recognition of his outstanding service, Rtn. David Burr was honoured with the prestigious Sapphire Paul Harris Award.
"We are thrilled to welcome Rtn. Chris Wilson as our new president," said David. "Chris has shown exceptional dedication and leadership within our club, and I am confident that he will continue to drive our mission forward with passion and integrity."
Rtn. Chris Wilson, the new president, expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm: "It is an honour to step into the role of president.
I look forward to building on the strong foundation that David has laid and working with our members to continue making a positive impact in our community."
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Sapphire Paul Harris Award to Rtn. David Burr, in recognition of his exemplary service and commitment to the Chepstow & District Rotary Club, "Receiving this award is a tremendous honour," said David. "I am deeply grateful for the support of my fellow Rotarians and look forward to continuing to serve our community."
In his final act as president, Rtn. David Burr presented Rtn. Guy Wilson with a Paul Harris Fellowship.
This honour recognizes Guy Wilson's outstanding commitment to assisting Ukraine, exemplifying the Rotary spirit of service above self. "Guy's dedication to helping those in need in Ukraine is truly inspiring," said David. "His efforts have made a significant difference, and we are proud to acknowledge his contributions with this fellowship."


Under Rtn. David Burr’s leadership, the Chepstow & District Rotary Club has achieved significant milestones, including amongst others donations:
- The Red Cross for Moroccan & Libyan earthquakes
- For the Refurbishment of the gents' toilets at the Chepstow Rugby Football club
- “Kids Cancer Charit”y, to assist a local family
- “Support Dogs” to help a local lady
- To restore the clock at St Mary’s, Chepstow.
- To assist Chepstow Boys Brigade
- Tintern Playground Appeal
- To the Isooko Ladies Group, Rwanda
- To Supporting St Briavels Ukrainian Support Hub
- To Rotary’s own Charity “Foundation”
- To purchase Solar mobile banks to charge mobile phones in Ukraine taken out by a local man.
- Purchase of Shelter Boxes
- To supply 32 Dictionaries4life to be given to schools this term
The club is committed to continuing its tradition of service and community involvement under Rtn. Chris Wilson's guidance.
The Chepstow & District Rotary Club has been a cornerstone of community service for 61 years, dedicated to fostering fellowship and improving lives both locally and internationally.
With Rtn. Chris Wilson at the helm, the club aims to enhance its outreach and develop new initiatives that align with the Rotary International motto of "Service Above Self."

On 16 July 2024 President Rtn. Chris Wilson of the Chepstow & District Rotary Club presented Usborne Illustrated Dictionaries4Life to a group of selected students at Undy Primary School.
This initiative aims to support children's education by providing them with essential learning resources.
The Dictionaries4Life program is a longstanding project of the Rotary Club, dedicated to promoting literacy and ensuring that children have the tools they need for their educational journey.
