Despite the proximity to the road the area, especially in spring and summer, it is a quiet, peaceful warm and sunny haven, buzzing with bees and pollinators, moths and butterflies and birds.
Chepstow & District Rotary Club installed the bench to encourage people to spend a little time in contemplation amongst their friends and loved ones of Chepstow.
The Founder President of Chepstow Rotary Club was Llew Lewellyn, a most popular local man who served as the pharmacist at Boots the Chemist when it was located near the town arch.
He was never late nor missed a meeting at the Kings Head, Chepstow.
He retired from Rotary at the age of 66 and died during a Rotary meeting in 1991 at the age of 78.
The original bench, placed in 1991, had since deteriorated and the members were delighted to have the replacement bench rededicated in Llew's memory.
